Center for Tropical Forest Science (CTFS) - The world's richest ecosystem - the tropical rainforest - is also one of its most poorly understood. To achieve greater understanding of this important ecosystem, the Center for Tropical Forest Science (CTFS) of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, in conjunction with scientific collaborators around the world, has undertaken a series of comparative, long-term studies of tropical forest diversity and change in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
The Conservation, Food, & Health Foundation -was incorporated in 1985 and began making grants in 1986. Its purpose is to assist in the conservation of natural resources, the production and distribution of food, and the improvement and promotion of health in the developing world. Through grants to support research and through targeted grants to help solve specific problems, the Foundation helps build capacity within developing countries in its three areas of interest.

El Monte Sustainable Lodge & Mindo Biological Station - In effort to facilitate Cloud Forest research El Monte Sustainable Lodge has founded and administrates the Mindo Biological Station (MBS). The bio station is located in pristine cloud forest encompassing elevations ranging from 1,400 meters to 2,600 meters. The station itself protects 6,500 hectares of land within the 19,200 hectare Mindo-Nambillo Protected Forest on the western slopes of the Ecuadorian Andes. It is our hope that with more research into the ecology of this unique ecosystem we will be able to further promote conservation in the area. The TADPOLE field team visited here in Feb. 2003, it is truly an incredible place with LOTS of research opportunities to offer.
